John Logie Baird used this artificial head in his tests when Marconi-Emi were doing their GPO television camera and system tests.

The photo shows the head located in a glass cabinet in the London Science Museum in September 1969.

Followers may recall that for transmission purposes the ladies who were "scanned" were required to wear black lipstick, as it came out better on the cameras !! It also looks as though John started off with normal skin coloured paint on his head, but then changed to white.  Presumably the camera gamma of the cells was poor !
